NW Art and Air Festival

2019 NW Art and Air Festival Information

SAVE the DATE:  August 24th and 25th at the Albany Municipal Airport

NOTE:  The City of Albany will have balloon launches and main events held on August 23rd to August 24th.  However, ALL Airport Events will be held on Saturday the 24th and Sunday the 25th!

Our 2018 Event was a HUGE SUCCESS!  The volunteer pilots provided 225 children and young adults rides through EAA Young Eagles!  We would like to thank the pilots, volunteers, Young Marines, vendors, and City of Albany!  Looking forward to 2019 event!

NW Art and Air Festival is a Citywide event where Art vendors come together with Hot Air Balloonist and Aviators!  While most of the events happen at Timber Linn Park which is located across the fence from the Albany Municipal Airport, tremendous amount of activities happen at the Airport as well.

Before anything, we would like to acknowledge the following groups and persons for their tireless effort in helping organize and run this event.

Young Eagles Flights Information

National EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association) and its local Chapters sponsor Young Eagles flights to give airplane rides to children and young adults ages 8-17.  These rides are free of charge with time and expenses donated by volunteer pilots willing to share the joy of flight with children and young adults.  The goal is to expose flying to as many future leaders of the world to enhance their experience and have them take up aviation as a career or recreation.

So far to date, EAA members have given more than 2 Million rides with 2 Millionth ride happening July of 2016 during EAA’s Airventure fly-in held in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.

To participate in Young Eagles flights during the NW Art and Air Festival, please note that registration is first come first served and the number of Young Eagles flown are usually capped at 100 per day.  However, at the discretion of Albany-Lebanon EAA Chapter, the number might increase to 125 per day depending on weather, traffic, and fatigue.

While registration starts at 9:30AM both days, it is highly recommended that you come earlier to secure a spot for a ride.  We typically see lines forming as early as 7:30AM so if you come late, the flights might have reached our capacity limit for the day.

To speed up the registration process, please download the required Young Eagles registration form, fill out completely, sign the back of the form and bring it with you.

Please NOTE that filling out the form does not mean you are registered.  You must go through the registration process on the day of the flight.  These forms does not guarantee a flight.

Once a Young Eagles Flight has been completed, the participant will be provided with a picture with their volunteer pilot, logbook, and a Young Eagles Certificate.  Also included in the logbook is a CODE to redeem an online course courtesy of Sportys.  This online course provides basic information on fundamentals of flying, airspace, and other FAA regulations.
